Elin: Can you tell me a little about yourself? For instance, do you have to have a day job as well as being a writer?
Eden: Hi Elin, apart from being a full-time mother of two boys under 7, I also work one day a week in an office environment.
I also help to run the romance blog http://www.riverinaromantics.blogspot.com
Elin: When you aren’t writing, is there any other creative activity you enjoy? Have you ever written about it?
Eden: Apart from reading and writing, I don’t do much else. I used to run a wedding website, but once I set my sights on being an author I had to sell the business.
Elin: Can you name any author/authors, past or present, who have been a great influence on your work?
Eden: There are so many, literally hundreds. I have the authors like Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter who write the way I hope to be able to write one day.
Then there are the authors who helped me get to where I am – the ones who took the time to critique my work. A lot of authors have helped to get me to where I am in my writing career.
Elin: What are you reading? Something to be clutched to the bosom or tossed aside with force? Fiction or non-fiction?
Eden: I’m currently reading Their Virgin Princess by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake. It is an erotic romance with 3 guys and 1 lucky female 😀
For the most part I’m really enjoying it. I struggle with writing menage because there are too many hands and arms and …other bits.
Elin: Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Eden: Total plotter. If I get an idea in my head I usually think it over continuously until I have every aspect how I want it.
Then I start writing notes and typing it out. I even have a big corkboard in my office that has all the characters to my current Reckless Beat series with notes on how each story will go.
The notes always change, but not usually in a big way. I stress if I don’t know where I’m going. I’m a control freak.
Elin: Do your characters arrive fully fledged and ready to fly or do they develop as you work with them?
Eden: Their personalities usually develop from the time of initial idea to final draft. I will know them like an acquaintance at the time I start writing, but by the time I finish, I know them better than I know myself.
I know their past, their dreams, their nightmares.
Elin: Do you have a crisp mental picture of your characters or are they more a thought and a feeling than an image?
Eden: I always have an image of a person in real life, either a celebrity, or an image I’ve found on the internet.
I need visuals in front of me so I don’t forget all the finer details of my characters. I also like having the excuse to plaster gorgeous men all over my office walls.
Elin: Do you find there to be a lot of structural differences between a standard romance and an erotic romance?
Eden: For my own writing, No. For me the structure is always the same, the connection is just more heated and revolves more around intimacy in my erotic stories.
Elin: What are you working on at the moment? Can you discuss it or do you prefer to keep it a secret until it’s finished.
Eden: I’m working on the second book in the Reckless Beat series, with a few other bits and pieces when I need a mental rock star break.
But I’m not giving out details of which rocker will be next…not yet anyway.

In order to help keep track of the hands, legs and other bits a former instructor said she played with little dolls with moveable limbs to assist in her writing 😀
Wow, maybe I ought to invest in a couple of GI Joes?
I sometimes storyboard an action scene but I dont think I could manage drawing a sex scene.
Through the story, the rest of the band members are introduced and make for excellent secondary characters. I really liked Blake and it is clear that each band member has his own story to tell. I am already looking forward to more books in this Reckless Beat series. Eden Summers tells a good story and I enjoy her writing style. Bring on more rock star romance Eden Summers!
