Frankly, I’m sick to the gills with it. But it dos offer some spectacular images. Sadly I don’t have the photographic skills to make the most of them but here they are:

Icicles as long as my arm above the window in the south west tower

The view from my desk

The view from where the computer is.

The view from the other window over the town. There’s the faintest trace of last summer’s smiley face in the snow to the right of the clock tower’s green top.
Days and days of dull greyness. It’s at times like this I really envy the characters in my books. I can write them somewhere NICE.
*snicker* I would love taking photos of your home. It looks interesting! But I hear you about the gray. I was just thinking how gray our winter has been. So damn boring. And depressing. And sullen. At least your town has color! Where I live? The closest we get to color is the brick in the houses, and few have that anymore. Mostly, people paint their houses white and gray and other boring colors. Nothing bright like I see here. It’s not considered “seemly.” *eyeroll* In Key West, people paint with bright tropical colors. I think they should do the same everywhere! Why be boring and conventional? But do it in MN and they think you’re nuts. Sure would brighten up winter though.
It’s a good place for pictures. Within a few hours drive we have official mountains [not very high but impressive], gorgeous farmland and the sea shore. Most of that russet colour is brick, and the nice bright green is corroded copper. ๐ But there’s a lot of stone around here and with the lack of light it’s all grey grey grey.
And now it’s trying to snow again! I want to move to Tenerife.
Ooh, what lovely photos. And you have such a stunning view from your desk. What is the peak in the distance. It’s so inviting. I’d spend all day gazing from the window. ๐ Thanks for sharing. And yes…..I’m sick to the teeth, gills, eyes and everything else …of winter.
Best view ever! That peak is Ysgwryd Fach, much smaller than Pen y Fal, Blorenge or Ysgwryd fach, which are north, north-east and south of the town. There isn’t anywhere you don’t have to look up to see the horizon.
They are all white today ๐ฆ
Who says you can’t take photos? I wouldn’t do a stroke of work if I had those views to stare at ๐ If it helps, it’s pouring with rain here…but the mimosa’s out (he he, couldn’t resist). And now you’ve got me trying to find the smiley face.
There are times when I day dream. I can see hillforts, celtic field systems, where the Roman fort was, the line of the old pony tram road from before railways, the canal – so many different periods of history.
Yes, like Susan…I’m trying to find the smiley face. I’m hopeless at things like that. ๐ณ
You sor of have to know what you’re looking for. It’s very faint but there’s a paler patch with 2 grey patches inside it just about level with Manchester on the UK Meet badge and about a centimetre in from the edge of the photo.
Elin! No wonder you can write such amazing stories with those fantastic views to look at all day. Maybe they look bleak to you because you’re used to them, but they’re breathtaking. ๐
Awww, that’s so kind. I’m totally spoiled with my views. ๐ I can see 2000 years of semi-recorded history from my windows.
I’m seeing it as bleak because it’s so cold, even inside the building. I was like a block of ice when I got home last night and at lunch time today I decided I didn’t have enough on and went and bought a long sleeved t-shirt and a thick plaid shirt to wear over it from a thrift shop. Six layers!
No little heaters? You might need one of those kerosene lamps that puts off heat. ๐
I love your pics! and nice to see where you live. Haven’t seen you around lately but I know you are particiapting in the a-z challenge so will see you then perhaps I am madly getting my blogs set up computer issues and all. March is one of the ugliest months here – not grey – brown – as in dirt and mud lol
I decided to drop the Sunday and Wednesday blog hops because I wasn’t doing very well at getting round the other participants blogs. It doesn’t seem fair not to reciprocate.
I like your story. It works very well in the context of the challenge. ๐
by the way I posted that piece that I sent a while back for input – please take a look ๐
Grey skies or no, those are awesome images. I envy you: my view consists of a parking deck and a building, built in 1926, whose roof is collapsing.
It’s a cracking view ๐ I’m very lucky. If it’s any comfort, on days when I’m downstairs, I can’t see outside at all apart from a bit of tree. ๐
Where are you located? I mostly see trees out my windows. And I have my A to Z posts written and pre-posted through P, but still have a few to go.
I’m in a hunting lodge in a ruined castle in South Wales. ๐
I know what I want to write for my A to Z but haven’t had a chance to write any yet. You’re doing very well.
Nothing wrong with your photography skills, Elin! Love the pix, thanks for sharing. The view from my desk is mostly power lines and traffic from the transit center — trade? *lol*
I hear you about winter, though. Until this week it’d been so long since I felt the sun that I didn’t really miss it, but one little peek and I’m jonesin’ hard for summer … It’ll come.
Roll on spring, eh? It’s been snowing all day, just a few flakes, but enough to know that winter isn’t done yet.
Fabulous pictures there.
Thanks, Stevie. I just wish they had been a bit brighter.
Lovely pictures. It looks like you work in an abandoned castle. You should take more pictures when everything is pretty and green, and if at all possible, plant some crocuses around so you have something to do this time of year.
At my job there was someone who worked across the street that looked like Rick James, and one time I saw a hawk eating a pigeon. I think you have those views beat.
There’s a nice little garden with snowdrops and some crab apple trees, very nice to sit by.
A hawk eating a pigeon sounds exciting!
How interesting! I do love these photographs. Denise
