Last week I saw a picture that I enjoyed so much I had to draw my own. I don’t often get the urge to draw these days. It’s so much easier to describe with words than fiddle around with pencils. But yesterday i bashed out a sketch at lunch time.
Here is the inspiration – “Pan with Bats” by Allen Todd Yeager – and image of such joy and innocence that it made me choke up a bit. [It’s safe to click – the link takes you to the artist own website. Just be prepared for some NSFW images if you have a browse there].
And here’s mine – “Faun, unaware of how cold the water is”. Oh that was such fun to draw. I’ll tart it up a bit next week.
It’s been ages since I worked with pencils. Seeing this sketch made my fingers twitch. ;/
Hmm, have you got any writing deadlines to meet? I can’t draw AND write close together. I think they use the same bits of my brain or something. But if you do please let me know. I’d love to see. 🙂
Yeah, I do have a writing deadline. 😦 But after this last book, I’m taking a break. I want to learn how to paint in Photoshop. Your sketch would be perfect for that. 🙂
Digital art is huge fun. I didn’t use photoshop but Corel’s Paint Shop Pro. Sadly I lost it when my laptop died. 😦 I need to save up for a new graphics software package. The Gimp just doesn’t do it for me. 🙂
I reluctantly admit I pirated PS for years because I couldn’t afford it. Finally, I saved up enough and now I’m legit, which I’m happy about. I love that program! I always felt guilty for stealing it. Buying the initial package hurts bad, but the upgrades I can usually deal with.
We have photoshop at work but I’ve never been allowed the time and peace to learn how to use it efetively. I always used my own laptop and software if we needed images fiddling with. I might see if I can win the time now. It has a fabulous reputation but PSP, especially an older version, was familiar and affordable.
I started out with PSP when it was still cheap. Then Corel bought it. ;/
Many years ago, I had a short-lived job with a web developer and they used PShop. The learning curve is steep, but damn! That program is magic. It’s well worth learning. Free tutorials are all over the internet; you’d get up to speed much faster than I did. You should consider it.
Aww! He’s so cute, and such a sweet expression on his face. ☺ Lovely drawing, Elin.
🙂 thanks sweetie. Many years ago I wrote a fantasy about a faun – a Parish clerk called Gilbert Wainscot who had a bit of an accident and found that he was growing cute little horns and a tail and an inconvenient amount of body hair in certain places. I miss Gilbert. Maybe I ought too look at
that story out again – though it’s not like I’m fishing around for things to do.
Oh I love it Elin! There’s so much energy here, reminds me of the vividness of your writing! xxx
wow talented lady!
