Six Sunday again – go here to see the incredible list of incredible contributors and read the excerpts!
I am continuing A Fierce Reaping from where I left off last week with Cynfal sounding out just how interested the bereaved Gwion is, with a view to getting his big hairy paws on Gwion’s dead lover’s armour.
~
“I heard,” Cynfal said. “I’m sorry, and I’m sorry you were hurt as well.” He returned to the door and reached out to give Gwion a gentler version of the punch in the arm that Pup and March seemed to quite enjoy. “Come with us … maybe Llif’s horse needs exercising?” Gwion’s small smile confirmed his guess. “You could meet us – accidentally, and then come along for the company?”
Considering Cynfal’s aim, he is being quite understanding/charming. I hope he doesn’t just want the armor, because that’s pretty awful–to sweeten someone up to get their dead lover’s armor.
He fancies Gwion, but he knows that he’s not going to survive in battle just in his shirt. The armour is essential and all he has to offer in return is charm. 🙂 I hope the story works out the way I hope it will. Thanks for commenting.
Nice six again, Elin. That Cynfal’s a crafty devil……..or is he being genuine? 😉
Bit of both really. 🙂
He walks the fine line between manipulation and seduction. Well done!
🙂 thank you. It’ll be fun to see him fall off, won’t it?
I’m with Vivien. But SO nicely done. Great six!!
Thanks, KE, also thanks for the Tweet. 🙂
‘Big hairy paws’ made me smile. Fun read and lovely six!
Thanks Carrie. 🙂
I love his suggestion. He seems to have it all planned out.
Cynfal has hidden depths, as all good heroes should. The thing is, this isn’t a romance so I can make some of his depths a bit murky 🙂 thanks for commenting.
I think the plan works for all of them. 🙂
Great read, Elin. I like how your characters are all 3D, and are different from each other. Your excerpts always read like you really enjoyed writing this story 😀
I like the playful tone. Very nice Six!
So, I just skipped around your Sixes, and decided to pick up Alike as Two Bees. Great writing!
I agree with the others. It seems as if Cynfal has other intentions which Gwion has no idea about. Great six as always Elin.
Without the intro, he comes across as merely concerned. With it? Not sure I’d want to be Gwion.
Nice hesitation there, subtle flirtation.
Your characters, pardon the expression, are adorable. Oh my snippet is not a first time story “unfamiliar” because it’s been 112 years since he’s felt like that
Such manipulation. I wonder if Gwion is as unaware as he seems.
Cute playful tone. Nice six!
Intriguing six there. I’m wondering about his true motives, and whether he really knows them himself.
Cyn is a practical man. Gwion, though, could teach him a thing or two if Cyn isn’t careful. 😉
Great six. Enjoying getting to know these characters.
Great blocking here and very smooth.
Nice job of showing that even though he can by a manipulative, that Cyn also has a bit sweetness. It makes for a believable and enjoyable character.
I really enjoy reading these characters each week. I love their interactions, and the humor. 🙂
Nice six!
I’m getting so attached to these characters. Love your six!
